In a bid to attract foreign talent and bolster its reputation as an appealing destination for remote work, South Korea has introduced the Digital Nomad Visa (F-1-D). This move marks the official replacement of an earlier pilot program and brings about more lenient criteria for eligibility, aiming to draw international professionals to the country.
The updated visa regulations now include a lower income requirement, specifically benefiting younger applicants and those considering residence outside the bustling Greater Seoul area or within regions identified as having declining populations. In addition to these relaxed conditions, the visa’s duration has been expanded, allowing holders to stay in South Korea for up to three years, compared to the previous two-year limit.
